Podcast 51 - Interview with Daniel George
Hello listeners! We’ve got an extra special episode for you today: we had an opportunity to interview Daniel George, founder of August Games and designer of the delightfully fanciful Dragon Brew. Daniel has been designing games for years and had lots of great insights to offer. Our conversation ranged all over, from advice to aspiring game designers, to his own creative process, to an in-depth discussion of his new game Dragon Brew. We had an amazing time talking to him, and we hope that you enjoy it just as much.
Dragon Brew is a game about fantasy races who compete for brewing trophies instead of fighting on the battlefield. Each round, players craft beers designed to meet the tastes of that year’s judges. Each judge as a unique preference between the three qualities: color, strength, and bitterness. But wooing the judges isn’t the only way to earn points, and savvy players will have to cover all their bases in order to secure victory.
The game has a lot to offer, with deeply strategic resource management and worker placement wrapped up in a fun, easy-to-play turn structure. It’s currently in the middle of its funding campaign on Kickstarter, and we highly encourage you to secure your copy. If you’re reluctant to put money towards a game you haven’t tested yourself, have no fear! Dragon Brew is completely playable on Tabletopia, so give it a whirl and see if you enjoyed it as much as we did.
