Podcast 67 – Tiny Epic Galaxies

Hello listeners! Thank you for joining us on this week’s podcast, where we review Tiny Epic Galaxies, and its new expansion Beyond the Black. Tiny Epic Galaxies is an action management game in which players compete to build the greatest galactic empire ever seen. They do so by sending ships around the galaxy to gather resources and colonize planets. While the base game focuses exclusively on these mechanics, the expansion introduces a new element: unexplored space! Upgrade your ships with the new pilot system and go explore for points and profit.

As usual, we also discuss the games we’ve played recently. This week, that list includes Near & Far, Dingo’s Dreams, and Race for the Galaxy.

Podcast 66 – Nevermore

Hello listeners, and happy Friday! This week on Dragon’s Demize, we took a stab at Nevermore, a card-drafting game inspired (loosely) by the works of Edgar Allen Poe. In Nevermore, players use five different suits of cards to perform various actions, including attacking, regaining health, and earning victory points. Along the way, they also earn powerful Magic cards which they can use to give themselves a boost. Check out the full review for more information!

We also discuss what we’ve been playing lately, including Zombiecide and Viticulture. Plus, Jakub talks about his experiences at this year’s Awesome Con.

As always, thank you to Agata Poniatowski for the Artwork and Strangelette for the music.  If you enjoyed the podcast, be sure to check us out on Facebook and Google+. Podcast 65 – T.I.M.E. Stories

Welcome back listeners! This week we have another exciting episode of Dragon’s Demize for you! We review T.I.M.E. Stories, a fully cooperative, mystery solving board game. Each game takes place in a different setting, ranging from contemporary America to ancient Egypt to an alternate fantasy timeline. In each scenario, players must work together to track down clues and overcome obstacles. In many ways, T.I.M.E. Stories plays like a board game version of the classic point-and-click adventure games. Check out the full review for more details!

As always, we also talk about what we’ve been playing including Scythe, Mystic Vale, and D&D!

Podcast 64 – A Distant Plain

Welcome back, listeners, to another exciting episode of Dragon’s Demize. This week, we review A Distant Plain, a complex strategic wargame based on the War in Afghanistan. As you might expect from such a fraught topic, the game features lots of asymmetry in its design and your allies one turn may be your rivals the next. That said, it’s excellently designed and rewards careful execution of strategies. Check out the full review for more details.

We also talk about what we’ve been playing lately. This week, that includes Tiny Epic Galaxies, Between Two Cities, and, of course, Zombiecide Black Plague.

Podcast 63 – Trains

Welcome back  listeners to another episode of Dragon’s Demize. This week on the podcast, your intrepid hosts review Trains, a combination deck building and route building game set in contemporary Japan. Players compete to connect different stations around Japan, but must also keep their decks from becoming too clogged with industrial waste. Trains takes these popular but distinct gameplay elements and fuses them into one excellent game.

In addition to our review, we also talk about what we’ve been playing lately. This week: Dingo’s Dreams, City of Iron, and more tales from the D&D table.
